Review on πŸ–οΈ Pentel Arts Colored Pencils Review: Assorted Colors, Set of 12 - A Complete Guide by Gelin Battle

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Affordable price for a surprisingly good colored pencil.

I bought these for my 90 year old mother to use in her adult coloring book. She hasn't painted or done any artistic work so I didn't want to overload her with too many colors to choose from so a pack of 24 is the perfect size. I tried them out to see how good they are and I was pleasantly surprised at how evenly they lay in colour, the brightness that can be achieved and blending well too. I wouldn't even mind using them myself! I have four sets of crayons, in sets of 50 to 100 colors; from Crayola to Prismacolor Premier. I keep Crayola for my grandkids, they are durable and inexpensive but not suitable for adults. Prismacolor Premier are the best, I've been using them for 30 years. The other two kits I have are generic, one is pretty good and the other is an improvement on Crayola. I would put these Pentel Arts colored pencils in the same quality as good generic brands. My main concern was if they were dark enough for my mum to see well as she has some vision issues, but without too much pressure they are dark enough. I've read reviews that they don't sharpen well. As this is a gift and they came pre-sharpened I have not attempted to sharpen them. I will update my review if there are any issues with it. Pleased with this affordable price for a surprisingly good colored pencil.

Pros
  • The color is smooth and blends easily
Cons
  • A bit ragged

Just as hood as prismacolor! Fraction of the price!
