Inconsistent production - fix problems.

I haven't reviewed Amazon in years, although I buy a lot here. I bought this lock on the advice of a friend and he helped me install it. All in all, this review is based on 2 months of experience with this thing and the frustrations that came with it. First, the shackle for mine (16mm?) didn't immediately fit the end of the U-bolt. In terms of geometry, the strut was anything but round and had to be filed. I had to physically grind it + the U-bolt down for a few minutes and then use some lube to finally let it slide back into its resting place. The first problem is solved. Then another version of the part delayed me, but I dealt with it for several weeks. In this case, the shackle cannot easily slide into the plastic buckle/harness system. It wouldn't snap into place unless you applied a lot of force. This alone weakened the entire strap and scratched my frame. boo I left it alone for a few weeks. All was well until normal driving missed the U-bolt on rougher roads. Imagine dropping your damn padlock on a busy public street in downtown Seattle? Yes No. I sat back down, this time for about 2 hours, sanding and filing certain edges in the hopes that I had finally found the offending areas that were getting in the way of a light, safe and secure lock. Eventually it snaps into place with a strong pull, unlike when I pulled it right out of the box. Now it works great and as desired. I am very happy now. after several hours of repairs and harrowing adventures with stops on busy roads to avoid being hit by a car. Hopefully nobody else had this problem and I got a crappy one from the lot but buyers should beware I guess. Update: no, never mind. i still hate it I will buy another item.
