Update: I'm sending them back - a bit reluctantly. They have really wonderful resolution (counting pinecone seeds at 100 yards), but the correct eyepiece holder is made of plastic so flexible that it's a HUGE pain to focus both eyepieces and point them in the same direction (collimated). A directly related issue that surprised me is that they have a surprisingly shallow depth of field. No matter how far they are. out of focus, anything at a slightly different distance is out of focus, so you need to refocus BOTH eyepieces. It was too much work. I left them in the car and took my much weaker 7x50 binoculars instead ------ ----Original: If you get both eyepieces properly focused, which is easy, these 20x50 binoculars give amazing magnification. very detailed texture on a sandy beach 200 yards away - almost (ALMOST) sharp enough to see individual grains of sand. Looking at the Monterey cypress cones, I couldn't believe my eyes. Instead, they looked the size of a Monterey pine cone. !Also positive - the lenses are sharp to the edge, which is not that far from the center. These aren't $500 glasses. They cost $30. That means the manufacturer sold them at a profit of $15 each. So when you imagine that these are binoculars that can do amazing things, you will be pleasantly surprised. The view is definitely small. You must press your eyes firmly against the eyepieces. I found that I didn't want to use them to look for anything as the field of view is very small. Instead, I reached for 7x50s for a more relaxed look. I was expecting some jitter issues - and yes they are. You really need to support your elbows to get a more stable picture. And when you do, the resolution is amazing. They are solidly built, except for the focus plate that connects the two eyepieces, which is slightly curved and can affect focus in the right eye. The lenses are coated as advertised, the purple tint is evident. Possibility to attach a tripod. But for $30 - if you want to try the 20x zoom - they're (and I hate that term) "not bad".
