Review on Premium Stainless Steel Citrus Press Juicer by Norpro: Effortlessly Extract Fresh Citrus Juice with Style! by Marcus Powell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Bigger, more powerful but probably won't stand the test of time

This is definitely an upgrade from the usual cheap aluminum citrus juicers that broke after about 20 ounces of juice. After reading a review from a person who has been using (and continues to use) this for over two years I should have gotten it as it was made out of stainless steel which is a notch higher. One of the perks for me was that it was supposed to be solid stainless steel. Look, these are the words of people who have actually bought and tried these products, not just marketing babble. Well, the manufacturer doesn't say "solid stainless" so I'll put that on the table as my fault so I don't have to do ADDITIONAL research. When the juicer arrived I excitedly tore open the box to reveal the juicer. . I have to say I was thrilled that "It's HERE!" and that my old aluminum one broke and was supposedly better than my previous one. I was a bit disappointed because it didn't have the 'solid stainless steel' weight as another reviewer mentioned. It also "popped" like it was "hollow". Upon closer inspection it turned out to be made of thick sheet metal, 'possibly' stainless steel and not solid cast as many of the reviews on here would have us believe. Although the sweat and blend quality is excellent, anyone can believe that it is durable, but believe me, it is not. I took it for a test ride and it definitely works better than aluminum juicers but not as durable as I would like. I have a feeling that it will deform after a while. It's definitely not that buy-once-never-buy-again feeling. The lemon/lime/orange half goes in the opposite direction as it naturally would. Yes, this largely prevents the juice from splattering to the sides, but does tend to cause the lemon/lime/orange slices to pucker, preventing full extraction. I've also tried trimming the edges to prevent folding, but it still happens. Throwing the fruit "backwards" seems to work better as half the juice tends to split the skin and be extracted better, but then it defeats the purpose of the drainage holes in the bottom. The bottom line is that the bowl might even be too small for small limes. I still give this product 4 stars out of 5 because it's "better" made than the cheap $10 aluminum products you can buy, but don't believe it. that it is solid stainless steel. worth 20 bucks? Of course I think so, but I know for sure this won't be the last $20 I send to the juicer. I'm still looking for the "SOLID" stainless steel juicer. If anyone finds it please leave me a comment. =========== UPDATE (2014-04-21) ========== A year later it's still going strong. No rust, no signs of impending breakage. It was a good buy.
