Review on 🔥 Vornado AVH10 Vortex Heater: Auto Climate Control, 2 Heat Settings, Digital Display - White by Courtney Stone

Like all small heaters of this type

I've had about 10 portable heaters over the years. Like all small heaters of this kind, the thermostat is basically useless and keeps shifting. The preset temperature always depends on which heater "imagines” the actual temperature. I would disregard this as it's fairly common with heaters in general but is particularly discouraging with a unit this expensive. Just note that no matter how much you pay, there are no heaters with accurate temperature readings. Advantages: almost completely silent operation of the heater with a fan, even at high power. Looks very nice and somehow stylish. : Requires 3 hours of OUTSIDE work (literally plugged into an outlet near the door and plugged into the cells) due to the extremely strong, headache-inducing odor when first unpacked. I almost sent it back for this reason, simply because it is a pity that such an expensive heater requires the purchaser to undergo a test that the manufacturer should have done. What do you think? I've read other reviews mentioning this and upon opening the box I was struck by the extremely strong plastic smell. I knew this would be a problem when I did it. Bottom line: I'm keeping it, but I wouldn't buy a second one (or any Vornado model) unless I could sell it and easily return it if needed. I suspect quality issues like the ones I've described are the reason Vornado are almost never seen in stores. The shops are probably fed up with the constant returns and complaints. EDIT: I changed my mind about this heater and upgraded it to 4 stars. 2 years later it's still holding up. In the first few days, the smell has long since vanquished due to the constant, silent heat. Would buy again.

Pros
  • worth the money
Cons
  • vulgarity
