I bought this kit because I wanted an easy crochet kit that you can knit with for some time without straining your hands. Bamboo. All the thicker hooks are made from bamboo, while the thinner ones have a metal tip and wooden handle. Shortly after receiving them I noticed that one of the bamboo hooks had a splinter on the end. I used fine sandpaper (320 rating) and the splinter was gone and the hook was even smoother than before. I didn't think it mattered much based on the price and reviews, I figured it was an acceptable margin of error. I also compared this hook to an old-fashioned metal hook, which I inherited from my mother and which was made in the 70's or 80's. , In comparison, these hooks are not very perfect. But for mass-produced machine-made hooks, they're excellent and won't break the bank. The clasp on the case is a very nice touch. I don't think I'll be looking for a new set any time soon. I don't knit every day, but when I do I'm usually doing a significant project.
