First thoughts: ππ½ - Ignore all the cables, the video recorded during the test is suitable before full installation. Great for any car, especially ones that don't have factory cameras - IMO where this really shines is for older cars, vans, vans and those vehicles that don't have a backup camera/window or factory backup camera. The rear camera is coupled with the addition of separate front and interior cameras to help when driving, see passengers, blind spots and rear as well. We use this in our RV - looking forward to setting up adjustable parking. The guides are of great help in setting up the lines for this grand old car. For me, the separate front camera was a very attractive component - I can use the front camera to see (and record) what is always happening when parking, even with the windows open. Most other DSLRs I've seen have the front camera attached to the mirror. Placing a curtain over the window will block your camera, negating the parking sensor's advantage in a frontal collision. The cameras are an upgrade from the last model I had - improved night vision. The inner chamber is good if you have a need or a desire. As for me, I'm not sure about our application, but I don't see a way to turn it off. This is probably a great addition for keeping an eye on kids and pets, or for drivers. The cameras are recording in circles - push the button and the file can be locked so it won't be overwritten. Files are also locked when the cameras are triggered by a collision / or recording is triggered by a parking collision sensor. Benefits: β’ Easy to install - mounts over existing rear view mirror β’ Front camera is removable and not blocked by window shades β’ Rear camera can be mounted inside or outside vehicle β’ 3 cameras including new interior β’ Improved cameras β’ Adjustable parking lines β’ Mirror/display clearer and clear screen - β’ 2 optional anti-glare screen protectors included if required β’ GPS enabled β’ can be hardwired - kit coming soon Cons: β’ Mounts on previous model are easier to attach to a mirror -β’ 3 cameras - if not required I need the inside doesn't, I'm not sure you can leave it in. β’ The internal camera cable is not very long, which limits mounting options other than on the windshield. β’ Front camera on previous model has a slightly wider field of view (?) β’ Plenty of extra cables to hide - x5 (1 each for each camera, power and GPS) β’ Wiring harness not out yet - I'll update the review afterwards if anything changes changes. There seems to be an extra cable for the GPS that doesn't seem necessary. Manufacturer/seller is very quick to respond so I will check.
