When I received these towels (and I'm picky about kitchen towels) I thought oh no, those are the kind of threads that fall out. "spongy" is what I call it. And sure enough, those idiotic plastic things that have to be taken out because sellers use them to hold fabric things together caused an obvious loose thread when carefully removed. Not me! Either way, the towels come out nice and clean and are a joy to look at on my towel rail. The color is very "mixed and neutral" if that's what you're looking for. I put a lot of kitchen towels in my cleaning cloth bag, but I really like these!
