Review on Computer Thermometer Software Logging Temperature by Jeffrey Mosqueda

I'm using this with Linux, not Windows, but I've tried it with the Windows software that needs to be downloaded from the pcsensor website. The software seemed a little iffy, but it helped me make sure my sensor was working. Please note that initially the external temperature sensor was not determined by me. I contacted support and they asked me to check if it's fully connected, the last bit is harder to enforce. That was the problem for me, the last click didn't work and after I fixed that it worked fine. For Linux, I use the Temper.py python code that reads sensor data from these devices. It works fine for me and supports reading internal or external temperature value. One thing I've noticed recently as the weather got cooler is that these two sensors I installed don't seem to report temperatures below about 7.5 degrees C (45.5 F). The description says it should withstand down to -40C but that's not what I see. Each day my temperature data chart bottoms out at around 45.5 F. This is not a problem for my use but does not match the description. I haven't tested this limitation with pcsensor's Windows software, but this is the result I get with the Temper.py python script. So far I have had a sensor in continuous use for about 10 days without any problems.
