mine is now out of service, after less than three years of very infrequent use (a few times a month on average). It has never been washed in the dishwasher, always rinsed and hand washed and hand dried immediately after use. But now the bearings are failing; The blades can hardly be turned by hand, it squeaks when turning and the shaft gets EXTREMELY hot. My last jug failed (blades fell off the shaft and just spun free) and Blendtec said a new jug was the only solution. I got a new can and it broke after about 100 uses. I can't imagine how they hold up commercially. Very disappointed. I'm going to apply for a warranty (the new 3 year warranty should cover mine) but their web form didn't accept my claim, presumably because my engine base is older (it rejected the serial number). Three banks increased the price of a car by 50% in six years! Update: I called Blendtec and they will ship a replacement for free. They claim the bearings have been updated and the new model should be "good for years", which would be nice as I've had two failures in two years or less with the old model. Upgrade to two stars for good CS. If you buy I'd recommend making sure you get the 'new' version, whatever that means, as long as you're right about the increased reliability.
