It's not much more efficient than tin snips

I was very hesitant to order after reading all the reviews of broken and non-working units. When mine arrived, I immediately assembled all the lines and hoses to try out. The gun main assembly was shipped without the tip bend guard. Due to the fact that the fittings were flanged, tightening was now also not possible. Not the end of the world but talks about the quality control process. The included controller is very cheap. Don't overtighten. The supplied barbs are also cheaply made with very short straight pipe threads. Use teflon tape. I connected the air supply and started. According to the specs this draws a maximum of 22A at a 110V setting. I used it in a 20A circuit. Assuming I stay away from the highest setting, which is said to cut 15/64 cleanly, I figured I'd be fine for the test. My first test was to see how well it cut a 1/8 inch x 1-1/ piece. 4" hot rolled flat steel. About half the claimed clean cutting ability and 1/4 the cutting thickness. Nowhere in the manual are there recommendations for settings. You'll have to guess and go. Here's what I did. The arc spattered heavily at the half setting. It could barely melting the surface. I lifted the car higher and higher and lowered the air to find a middle ground. I was able to apply a permanent arc that cut, but now the machine was up. At that speed it was pulling more than the circuitry would allow, and tripped the switches every 1/4 shutdown. Although I managed to cut myself. It's not pretty. My final opinion is that the device I received worked. How, how, something like if you just cut sheet metal 14ga or less you would probably love it but at that speed you could get a sheet metal cutter and a nicer one get edge. I'm sending it back.
