At $80 the bike rack is still a good value.] You get what you pay for. When the package arrived the box was a lot smaller than I expected but it also meant the bike rack could be compact enough to fit in a small space. Assembly was required for 3 main pieces but there was a major problem installing the 90 degree arms that mount the bikes. The two holes through which the pin lock was to be inserted did not match, making it impossible to lock these levers. I asked for a replacement and they too had exactly the same problem but to a lesser extent. I went ahead and used a dremel to widen the holes just enough for the pin lock to slide. My friend and I finally used it last weekend. BENEFITS - 2" hitch allows for heavier loads to be carried - Easy to fit - Inexpensive - Can be lowered to open the tailgate without removing the bikes and trunk - This is done by removing the bottom locking pin - 33.5". -Height doesn't hinder the rear view of the truck my friend -Very compact -Supplied laces prevent bikes from rocking. CONS - Quality control issue: The pin holes for the levers did not match. Had to dremel 2nd job to get it to work - The bike rack hitch isn't quite a 2" - it's more like a 1 7/8" but many racks are. The difference is that Thule and Yakima have built-in mechanisms to securely lock carriers in the tow bar. This one doesn't have that. It instead comes with an inverted metal plate and U-bolt to secure the trunk - No built in lock like pricier brands like Thule/Yakima - The trunk can be lowered to allow access to the tailgate without removing it from the towbar . This is done by removing the bottom stop pin, but this can be an issue when all 3 bikes are installed. Why? Some may find it difficult to hold on to the heavy weight while slowly lowering the stand. Overall, this stand is what it is. It is inexpensive and has no frills for its price. The best thing would be the ability to lower it so we have easy access to the tailgate. I would give it 3 or 4 stars but the fact that TWO shipments had the same hole alignment issue reduces this to 2 stars.
