Review on πŸ”§ ACDelco Professional Serpentine Drive Belt Tensioner Kit - Model ACK060923 by Robert Yates

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good kit to have everything in one place and if the price is right it's a lot cheaper than buying individual parts.

Good kit. I would recommend that you check the price of the Gates equivalent, they share the same part number (ACK060923) and components, the only difference is the branding. I installed it on my 2001 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 liter engine with no problems. As another reviewer pointed out, you have to remove the hardware from the idler pulley, which requires using a pick to loosen the latch's locking teeth and then unscrewing it. Once you remove it you will find that the washer on the front end and the bushing on the rear end are also there along with the screw. Make sure you transfer both to the new idler pulley. Tap the retainer teeth with a hammer to re-tighten it and thread it back onto the bolt once it, washer and bushing are in place. Be sure to keep all of these components centered when installing the bracket. If something can be improved with a kit, it comes with all the necessary parts pre-installed on the idler pulley. Once installed, if you look closely at the idler pulley and rotate it, you may notice that it looks like some kind of wobble. In my case at least, the wobble was an optical illusion as the width of the flat surface was slightly wider in places. The pulley was still properly formed and round, but a slow rotation by hand showed that there was about 1/8 inch more material on one side of the pulley, most likely due to post-stamping machining.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required
