Review on Overdrive Mounted Standard Electric Bicycles by Curtis Domus

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice shelf for the price.

First of all, the customer service was fantastic. I had a problem with the lock and here's why. KAC is not to blame. The hitch pin that came with the rack had a 1-1/8 inch thread that was too short to engage the threaded anti-rattle wedges into the bike rack's tongue. My trailer hitch is broken. Outside width 2-1/8 inches. I emailed KAC and they sent me a new 2" thread range clutch pin, now it was too long. So I put three washers on the pin and now it fits perfectly and is snug. If the pin is tight When seated it doesn't rattle Bike and rack still wobble a bit so I attach a heavy duty rubber tensioner to the end of the bike rack to the muffler hook on the car frame and that dampens most of the wobble.I had to do it again I would a 2" -Installed a hitch on my Subaru and ordered a 2" version of this rack. Just a word of caution, after 40 years of towing all kinds of trailers, check your vehicle's maximum nose weight. While my Subaru hitch, not the car, has a maximum hitch weight of 600 pounds, my 2020 Subaru Forester has a maximum drawbar weight of 150 pounds and a drawbar weight of 1,500 pounds. D This limits me to 1 rack mounted e-bike that weighs 68 pounds without the battery and seat. The carrier can easily hold two e-bikes, the problem is my forster hitch or ball weighs 150 pounds. The rack weighs 50lbs plus 68lbs e-bike = 118lbs at the hitch, which is well within the limits of my Forester.
