A Few Tips Before You Buy

I am a trained carpenter. I installed 200 square feet of these in my screened porch. In general, after applying tung oil, the product looks great. I gave this product 4 stars. My product review is based on my experience with it and lets you know what to look out for: 1) I cut mine with a miter saw and jigsaw. Be extremely careful with the miter and be sure to wear safety goggles. When cutting fibers, cut them upside down (plastic side up). This product is not good for cutting 1/4" board (including fiber). I have a tile stuck in the miter. Glue only 2 of approx. 20 cut tiles.2. Cutting across the grain is much easier and can be done right side up3. I would not use this product for open outdoor use. Their surface must be level.4. Item arrives and some tiles appear dry and dull. Don't worry, that's what your tung oil is for. Flaxseed oil can be used, but tung oil works better. Apply a microfiber cloth, pour plenty of oil on the cloth and rub the wood with strong pressure (not hard) to penetrate it.5. You will need a tool to cut off some of the plastic connectors if necessary. I used a 3 inch grinder.6. I (personally) wouldn't buy this if I had to cut the pieces with a handsaw. This wood is tough and would be a pain to cut by hand. If you don't have a miter saw, you could probably get by with a jigsaw. If you only need to make a few cuts, a handsaw will do.7. I wouldn't use this if you need to make complex cuts, e.g. B. Curves or multiple 90 degree cuts in the same tile (e.g. to cut doorways). 8. Lay out the first full cut first as trimming those small ones that need to be cut "with the grain" will be a pain. Money. We'll see how it holds up. Remember - these are tiles and they sit on plastic legs. They have slats, so whatever you put on they have to be lifted to clean them (which is pretty easy). My application was in a covered outdoor area so it's not a big issue for me. I suppose they need oiling 1-2 times a year as they dry out. Good luck with your project.

Pros
  • β˜… WEATHER RESISTANCE AND DURABILITY: Made from natural acacia wood and pre-oiled, your wicker tiles will stand up to wind, rain or shine and look brand new! This durable construction also means they will last a lifetime. We recommend cleaning them well and using some wood oil before summer and winter to maintain their great finish and durability.
