I was changing the oil filter on a Mazda 3 with a horribly misaligned neck and accidentally used all my weight tightening the filter instead of unscrewing it. Nothing else I had could move it - clamps, knobs, wrenches, whatever. A week later I had it in my hand and it literally took 2 seconds to remove. This is one of the best craft purchases I've ever made. 3/8" inside or 13/16" outside, it doesn't matter. Honestly, buy it if you're thinking about it - I'm not worried about textured filters or things that are too tight or anything.
