Avoid if the tires are normally stuck on the rims.

I bought this tire instead of my usual continental alligator choice as this tire was a bit cheaper and had more tread which I felt would be good for rough/muddy roads. The finish on this tire isn't inferior to the venerable alligator skins, but it's certainly not bad and will most likely last a while. The reflective strips on the tires are very effective and a good safety feature. The main disadvantage of this tire is the difficult assembly. Tire-rim combinations are very diverse and my bike has always been stiffer. However, I was always able to remove and reinstall the tire, even in cold weather on the side of the road. With this tire I could not mount it under ideal conditions after 2 hours indoors. I had a friend trying to help me who also never had any trouble mounting a tire and they couldn't mount that tire either. I took the tire to my LBS and they broke the tire lever trying to mount this tire. They eventually resorted to a bead jack that worked. My LBS told me they had never had to use this tool before. Now I have to take a side jack with me when driving, which is much larger than tire levers in case I have a puncture. If your rims are on the small side then this tire is probably a good choice but if your rims are as narrow as mine I would avoid this tire.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
