Good but not as durable as Original Helly Hansen duffel bags

I'm a big fan of the earlier Helly Hansen duffel bags (with glossy textured PVC tarpaulin) so thought I'd give the new version a try. The update uses a smoother, matte PVC fabric (similar to other all-weather athletic wear) and the design is essentially the same - a flap that opens parallel to the length of the duffel, backpack straps that tuck into the flap, one internal mesh pocket, same dimensions etc. The construction doesn't feel as solid as the earlier version though - the fabric feels lighter, the shoulder straps are definitely less wide and thin and the zips aren't as strong. In the old version, the outer floor panel wasn't PVC coated (although it was coated on the inside), but was made of durable nylon with a water-repellent coating. The outer floor panel in the new version appears to be uncoated nylon or polyester, although the inner floor is still covered in PVC. Although it can keep moisture in the bag, it looks like the bottom of the holdall gets wet and stays wet. Helly Hansen makes quality outdoor gear and I'm sure this bag will suit most travel situations, but it just feels less durable than the 1.0 version. The old version was always a bit heavy, but the revised design justified the weight - the new version is almost the same weight but feels less durable. My tip: Grab one of the older versions while they are (briefly) still available!
