I'd never seen an anti-glare filter before and wasn't sure what to expect. It's not film you tape to the screen, and it's not anything fragile that curls around the edges. Feels and looks like thin Plexiglas (I have no idea what it's actually made of) and attaches to your monitor with two hooks or "mini-arms" that run across the top of the monitor. So it does not in any way affect the integrity of the monitor, as with screws. You can put it on and take it off in just a second and it will not damage your monitor in any way. The filter itself is slightly tinted, making your monitor appear darker. Also (forgivingly, I'm sure there's a word for it, but I don't know what it is) it's a kind of reflection. If your monitor is off or blank/black and you sit directly in front of the monitor, you will see your reflection blurry. For example, if you have a glossy black oven door (in your kitchen) and stand directly in front of it, you can see yourself. Do you see what I'm trying to describe? When what I'm doing on the computer has a white background, like typing in Word, I don't notice my reflection as much, but when I'm streaming a movie and the movie is dark or has a night scene, then I can see myself see and it's annoying. I sit at a computer 9+ hours a day and I developed CVS, Computer Vision Syndrome. I won't go into the details of this syndrome, but in short, looking at the monitor so much that my eyes hurt and the bright lights are just unbearable! I also sit in an eggshell-colored, fluorescent-lit booth with no windows. The light is quite harsh, but then the light bounces off the walls, creating additional viewing issues in terms of the monitor. (Anyone want to swap jobs with me?) When I opened the box and looked at the filter, I wasn't too impressed. To be honest, I didn't know if I wanted to keep it. But I decided to try it for a few days before sending it back. At first I couldn't see much of a difference between my monitor with and without the filter. The only obvious difference was the lightly tinted filter. Around 4:00 am after staring at the monitor for 8 hours I lifted the filter and looked at the bare monitor and HOLY OW I could tell the difference. See, my eyes were getting tired and my vision problems were getting worse. I fell in love with my new Kantek filter that day and I don't want to part with it! I still have vision problems but this filter makes life so much more bearable! Someone reviewed this product on Revain but it was a different size than this one and he/she mentioned that it's a good product for protecting delicate LCD monitors from users who like to touch the screen. If this interests you, I have to agree with this reviewer. I don't touch my screen but if you want to protect your screen this would be a good option as it's made out of something solid. Also, it comes with a small felt polishing cloth to remove smudges/fingerprints. I give this product four stars. If it had less reflection I'd probably give it five stars, but my pet nuisance alone still isn't enough to stop me from loving this filter.
