Great microscope for beginners. I specialize in biology so have little experience with lab quality microscopes. This microscope offers a reasonable level of clarity and magnification. Children can see individual cells. Although it can be difficult to focus at times, this $39 microscope is made for kids. This is more than enough to introduce your child (or even your adult) to the world of the microscope. The kit is excellent and gives the user many options for working with the microscope. Several pre-made slides and tools to create your own simple slides are included. I was pleasantly surprised at what this microscope is capable of and can't wait to recommend it to my classmates. If you are new to microscopy, always start with the lowest magnification.
