Two real pens?

I didn't think about it before I bought it. This is a pair of identical clamps. The Amazon product image shows the lock in the center of the sculpted arm, making the clamps symmetrical left to right. Well what you actually get is a thumb grip offset to one side. This works great on the right side of the saw, but on the left side of the saw the thumb grip is pointing inward causing it to bump against the fence. I have a DW716XPS, maybe it's just me? I have no idea. I've included photos so you can see the thumb grip hitting the fence. For the left side I removed the locking ring, turned the cast lever upside down, then had to flip the threaded rod (rubber washer included). Exposing the torx screw on the bottom) so it can clamp properly. I think it will work. Pulling on the cast lever causes the lever to have more play now that it's upside down, but most of this play can be eliminated by fiddling with the thumb grip while engaging. Breaking off is only really a problem when the clamps are folded out (when not in use). I suppose you could remove the left side entirely when not in use. Although I like the idea of them staying on the saw. Another reviewer mentioned that the left thumb grip hit the saw head on a hard left bevel. I can't test it at the moment, but flipping the cast lever like I did should help with this issue as well. The head may stop hitting the bar next, but at least you get a few more degrees of bevel. That issue aside, the bars seem to snap into the base fairly well, not the best fit but definitely snapping in place. We'll see if there's excessive wear on the die-cast aluminum base over time. I hope not. I would give a clip 4 stars if I only used it for the right side. I would give 2 stars for the left side. sides, so I'll average the set to 3 stars. Just be prepared to take the time to flip that cast lever to the left. I should have paid more attention before ordering. I assumed I got a set designed for the left and right side of the saw. Buy a pair of your choice, I'm probably pickier than most.
