I'm a technician and found the instructions confusing and contradictory. You're trying to cover too many options in one guide. After several hours of trying, I found that the instructions contained several errors. This unit will work with a JBL OEM amplifier but fader function will be lost. Really all it did for me was make the steering wheel controls work and there are other products that can be used for that. Also, this device does not emulate an applied parking brake to allow adjustment that would normally require the driver to park to gain access.
