Review on 🔒 Brass Mortise Lock Set - Prime-Line Products E 2293, 1-3/8" x 1-3/4 by Robert Staten

Bought this product to replace the existing mortise lock on the bathroom door (same product) The existing mechanism on the bathroom door at my apartment failed, so I locked myself in the bathroom. Fortunately, my Ralph bonus card and scissors allowed me to date MacGyver. I quickly disassembled the mechanism and found that it was an overly complicated design with one significant drawback: when turning the handle, the latch was pulled back by a thin bent metal plate, which tired and broke off. Threaded square bar so they will loosen up from time to time and the handle just turns without even engaging the locking mechanism. It only requires regular maintenance and is easy to fix, so I don't think it's a terrible design flaw, but I think it's worth mentioning. TL; DR: Looks good, mechanism is weak; If you don't want to be locked in or out of rooms, opt for a Signature set, which you can buy at any hardware store, and save yourself the naked McGuyver Quest experience.
