Review on πŸ” Bushnell Engage DX 10x42mm Binocular: Premium Black Optics for Immaculate Vision by Blake Burrell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap binoculars

I have compact Olympus 8X25 binoculars, small and light, great for concerts and everyday use. I chose this 10X42 Bushnell for more demanding applications. SETUP These Bushnells do not come with a printed manual, instead directing you to an easy-to-find online manual. They come with a sheet of setup instructions. They also come with a soft, non-slip fastening strap. I checked the diopter adjustment (focus the left eye, then adjust the diopter to focus the right eye). My eyes are pretty much the same, but it's always a good idea to check the setting (and remember the position in case it collides). If you don't wear glasses, twist and pull out the eyecups to view. Otherwise, leave them as is. IN USE The most noticeable difference to the Bushnells (besides the additional magnification) is the brighter image. Larger lenses collect more light and reproduce more detail in low light. The resolution is excellent. I understand why a well-known outdoor magazine rated them "Best Value" and said they could compete with much more expensive binoculars. They fit perfectly in my (big) hands. "IPX7” waterproofing ("submersible for less than 30 minutes and less than 1 meter”) is an important feature that makes them worry-free for outdoor use. They have a tripod mount (unscrew the center cap with a "B" key) - I'm considering stargazing from a tripod. MISCELLANEOUS They come with a fabric storage bag and slim nylon case. Covered by Bushnell's Iron Warranty, which is a "full lifetime warranty" that is "fully transferrable and requires no receipt, warranty card, or product registration." (FYI: Bushnell defines the lifespan of Engage binoculars as 20 years.) The packaging says "Made in China".
