Review on πŸ“ Canson Artist Series 1557 C A Grain Drawing Paper Review: Fine and Medium Textures, Top Wire Bound, 111 Pound, 9x12 Inch, 20 Sheets by Tara Ford

General purpose drawing paper

I bought this to use with colored pencils for which some brands work well. Polychromos, Pablo, Prismacolor and Luminance work well on it, but I found the Holbein and Derwent ranges layered poorly due to wax buildup (which I expected from Derwent but not Holbein). Pencil, charcoal, charcoal sticks all work well and look great with a textured surface. The back is fairly smooth and accepts most drawing inks well (not Higgins which bleeds a bit). All in all a good paper to use with the right materials.

Pros
  • Double sided paper: Fine to medium texture
Cons
  • Expensive
