There are 4 modes (NoR, RAID1, RAID0, JBOD), none of them worked. Actual modes differ from manual modes in that NoR (actual) is used instead of BIG (documented). I believe NoR/BIG is what is commonly referred to as SPAN. Regardless of the mode and even whether drives are installed (tried one and both slots), when using the "Dock" OWC USB3 Mac OS Mojave only reports an entry called "Dual Drive Dock 1 Media" with a capacity of 104.9 MB (EVEN without hard drives!) and "Number of children: 0". I've never seen a "child counter" so it probably knows it's a SATA multiport device but can't see the actual drives. Doc :) and that's bus-powered only. There is a troubleshooting LED on the connector side of the case, so now I could only see the LEDs with just the "doc" cable. Both red and blue light up, which means that there is a problem on both drives. no wonder it doesn't work. After arguing for a long time and not finding any problems, I opened the case. So now I see that the internal connector is spring loaded. When the actuator is plugged in, a spring presses the contact fingers against the actuator circuit board. Great if you can make sure the drive is fully connected. However, the door on the case does not (see picture), not for my SSDs, which are a 1TB 7mm Mushkin reactor. (By the way, the case is ONLY designed for 9.5mm, not UP TO 9.5mm, but this is about the length, not the height.) I'm pretty sure that with a plastic spacer, I'll mount the drive perfectly could . Anyway, I only used manual pressing for testing. The error recovery LEDs didn't light up, but the Mac still didn't recognize the drive. Then I discovered that the SSDs were fried in the process. I have experience with electronics (I've assembled small batches of commercial PCBs for example) so I know how to be on the safe side. I can't be 100% sure it wasn't me, but... it wasn't me. This product probably just won't work with the USBC dock/adapter. Perhaps this is a limitation of the USBC interface and what the Mac expects on the other side. I'm sure it works well enough with a direct SATA connection as many other reviews have said. I still wouldn't trust the inner join. Be sure to use some type of gasket to ensure a secure connection. The door spring is not strong enough to overcome the internal connector spring!
