Review on πŸ”’ Linksys WRT54GS2 Wireless LAN/Firewall Access Point & 4-Port Router with SpeedBooster - 54Mbps 802.11g by Simon Connelly

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very Poor Performance

Having used Linksys routers for the past 10 years, this wireless router's performance does not match the previous performance. This is not a plug and go router. Although I live in an apartment that is only 900 square meters, there is no place in the apartment that can be easily connected to a router. I turn on my computer, my computer sees the router and then says it can't connect. I'm running XP and my previous Linksys router accepts any of the 5 computers I have in my apartment. The main problem is associated with the router. Even though I downloaded the software that came with it, I have to keep "fixing" the connection for the initial connection to the router. That often doesn't work! I have to go to the router, unplug it, then plug it back in and then I can connect. I use several different computers and this problem affects every model I have: IBM laptop, Dell desktop, Sony Viao and newer HP laptop. Once plugged in, it stays connected about 85% of the time, and you can use a USB flash drive to quickly and easily transfer your settings to other computers. It's also small and flat in overall profile. I would not recommend this device to anyone. I will probably have to buy another router.

Cons
