Review on ❄️ GE Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Damper Door WR17X11653 - Genuine OEM Replacement by Michael Gutierrez

Fixed minor mod issue

So I noticed a lot of frost in my GE fridge side by side on the freezer side - right next to the ice chute. Googled the issue and found that it was most likely a bug with that part. While it was still closing, the rubber seal had deteriorated somewhat and was no longer sealing, allowing warm air to rise up through the shaft. Very easy to replace the part, it took about 5 minutes. However, as others here have noted, the top of the seal catches on the plastic frame and doesn't close completely. I've seen some other reviewers point out that they had to trim the rubber a bit. I did this with very sharp scissors and only cut off a minimal piece and then tried it. Still stuck. Trimmed some more and tried again, still stuck. After a few tweaks I got it to the point where it closed every time and still covered the hole 100%. I just had to cut across the top to create a flat top. Please note that the door will close after about 3-4 seconds after stopping the ice supply, this is normal. At first I thought it was a different problem as I had never noticed it before. I guess I just never paid attention. But there is no frost more and less than $10, I'm satisfied. The spring and solenoid were in good condition so I didn't change them.
