Already Cracked - Construction Materials
Purchased to replace 20 year old deck post plugs to add some class to a very old deck. Since they were still a bit damp I let them dry a bit before applying the hard stain. Of the 12, 4 developed somewhat excessive cleavage (cracking). Our deck is meant to be replaced sooner rather than later, so the cracks actually fit into the shabby chic, uh, charm. But if it was a nice new deck, I'd probably be annoyed. If they were colored instead of colored you could fill the crack and have the perfect cap. The advantages are that they fit perfectly on the poles and otherwise feel sturdy. But time will tell.
