Review on Hamilton Buhl D132 Classroom Cassette Player - 2 Station, 1 Watt (HA802) by Jesse Azuse

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Closest to the original shoe box style tape recorder

This is a much better and far more reliable tape recorder than the Chinese made small player style portable recorders. . Yes, it's made in China too, but with more emphasis on quality. It's not your old Panasonic or Sony tape recorder, but it does the job. This model plays MP3 audio files from a USB flash drive and plays and records cassettes. It also has a microphone input (with or without a remote switch) suitable for a handheld or lavalier microphone for recording purposes. In addition, it has two 1/4 inch jack outputs for one or two headsets. My device has an issue with the volume wheel going from low to high without the expected fade in and out. This may be an issue with my device and not everyone else's (hopefully). I use one of the headphone outputs on my small Olympus digital audio recorder to digitize my cassettes. Since three of these handheld player/player style recorders didn't work for me when converting cassettes to MP3 files (I got my money back/credits back for all three) I just use this Hamilton Buhl unit in combination with my Olympus Mini. Digital recorder to turn my cassettes into MP3 files. An interesting thing happened when one of my 120 minute tapes was eaten by this device (90 minute or 60 minute tapes should only be used because the 120 minute 60 minute tapes are very thin on each side have tape that can be wrapped). spindle roll). I managed to undo the screws holding the bottom of the radio, remove the bad tape, reattach the rubber roller and replace the bottom. The recorder works perfectly. Have fun with one of these Walkman-style portable cassette recorders. The cheaper manufactured parts on these small devices cannot be repaired. The last one I tried to fix ended up in the trash. I am giving this Hamilton Buhl recorder four stars due to the volume control issue and imperfect sound quality. Overall, I think it's worth the price.
