Review on 📶 Enhance Your Network with the Netgear ME102 802.11b Wireless Access Point by Billy Berry

I bought this wifi hotspot to give my wife's laptop broadband internet access throughout the house. It works pretty well and is easy to set up without encryption, but adding 128-bit WEP encryption was time-consuming and frustrating. Netgear needs to improve the documentation on this. I ended up getting help from one of the USENET newsgroups as well as from Netgear tech support. This required downloading and installing a firmware update and updated setup software from the Netgear website, which may be inconvenient for the average consumer. A Netgear tech support representative helped set up the access point, but refused to give me advice on setting up the wireless card because it's not a Netgear product (all I wanted to know was how and where the encryption key should be entered). In addition, the effective range of a device with 128-bit encryption enabled decreases noticeably. Other than that, now that it's up and running, it's great. But unless you're a network or PC expert, be prepared for a pretty steep learning curve.
