Good product but difficult to set up

Make sure to restart your system after installing the software, otherwise the installation will not work properly. After installation, you will not be prompted to restart.

Easy setup if you're using Windows.

I personally use a Linux box with 2 network cards as a firewall/router/server. I didn't really need affordable wireless routers, so I settled on this simple access point that added wireless capabilities to my home network. I was a little apprehensive about installing it on XP, but everything went smoothly. You should say "yes" to unsigned drivers, but everything installed fine, no driver errors. However, you need to set up this device from a Windows computer via USB. Once you set up theโ€ฆ

Excellent Wireless Networking Product

We added the ME102 Wireless Access Point to our existing 6 station wired home/office network and have been happy with it ever since. Living in a 4-story office building, we found some spots that we couldn't reach efficiently with cable. Since we originally used Netgear, we decided to stick with them in case there might be any compatibility issues (although we never found any). We connected the hotspot to a wired hotspot or our network to a central hotspot on our second floor with absolutely noโ€ฆ

Easy setup, extreme range

I had no trouble setting up this access point, including WEP encryption, with admittedly limited documentation. Connecting to a cable modem through a Netgear RP114 router worked fine. My client was a Casio E-115 PDA with a Netgear MA701 CF card and I was able to connect to the internet for the first time. would enable good communication anywhere in my house. I have a finished loft that I am using as an office where the router is located, but placing the access point in two locations in theโ€ฆ

Inexpensive but a bit fiddly to set up.

I bought this wifi hotspot to give my wife's laptop broadband internet access throughout the house. It works pretty well and is easy to set up without encryption, but adding 128-bit WEP encryption was time-consuming and frustrating. Netgear needs to improve the documentation on this. I ended up getting help from one of the USENET newsgroups as well as from Netgear tech support. This required downloading and installing a firmware update and updated setup software from the Netgear website, whichโ€ฆ

good product bad standard

I think it must be an 802.11 bug that these things have such poor range. My dumb 900mhz cordless phone is reaching my neighbor's house, but this thing won't go from the office to the living room (I could probably route infrared from the office to the living room) without dropping 74% signal strength. However, it was easy to set up even though it didn't have DHCP capability so I had to set an IP address and it would have been better if they let me set it up over the network rather than the USBโ€ฆ

Works great, inexpensive but not for network newbies

Received my ME102 today and it was up and running in 5 minutes (not counting the time it took to screw in the screws [included] is needed on the wall - mount the unit next to one of my ethernet switches). I didn't find a USB based configuration ideal. It definitely worked well. But I don't like installing drivers and software on my computer that are used only once or infrequently and the rest of the time just add more junk to the windows registry and are just another thing added to programโ€ฆ
