I wanted to lose weight and lower my cholesterol so I decided to have a protein shake to reduce my overall calorie intake. I bought this product because I am lactose intolerant and cannot take whey protein shakes. As for protein shakes, it's not that bad. As mentioned, it has a slightly chalky aftertaste. I've tried both chocolate and strawberries, and strawberries have a less chalky taste than chocolate. I would definitely add the powder to the water instead of adding water to the powder to reduce clumping. It is best to shake or blend. I agree with another reviewer that it's not very filling, but 1 serving is only 150 calories. I also want to mention that if you really try to replace your meal with a cocktail (not another meal) you'll end up in the bathroom until your next meal. I've found that eating a small amount of something else that's around 100 calories helps you feel full and prevents frequent trips to the bathroom. Overall the product is as advertised but as with most diet products it doesn't taste as good as its non-diet counterpart.
