Review on πŸ’§ Nalgene Tritan On The Fly Water Bottle, Blue with Glacial Blue - 24oz: Durable and Stylish Hydration Companion by Tim Wheeler

Good bottle, weak cap

Have been using this product since Christmas. Now that it's been used for 8 months of work I feel like I can reconsider. Pros: If you use a metal clip, the lid will not leak (see Why a metal clip is a disadvantage). Works perfectly. I wash it a week or two, there is no mold. I try to vent the bottle when it's empty (if I remember). Holds enough water so I only fill it with ice and water at the start of the day and the ice stays for hours. Cons: There is a small plastic square on the lid for the latch to engage. I've already broken it, so if I don't use a metal fastener, the lid can open at any time. Now I have to use a metal latch to keep it closed. Apparently Nalgene will sell me a replacement cap for about the same amount I would buy a bottle for. I'm assuming the cap is the more complex part of the water bottle, so that would be the higher part of the bottle's cost. Information (which may help others): I like the advice to deflate the bottle when it's empty. Regularly I wash in the dishwasher (if I remember). As I said, the cap on my bottle broke. Now I have to use a metal clip to keep the lid closed. If you are transporting or lifting it by the lid I would use a metal clip as much as possible. I'm lazy so I almost never used a metal clip. I think that's why my latch broke.
