These place mats arrived nicely packaged and flat. They are nice looking and a decent thickness. From other reviews, not sure what people think the thickness should be? If you want thick plastic then buy thick plastic. (Read further down) They are a vinyl/plastic weave. I bought the brown and champagne tones. I kept both. One set for my kitchen table and the other for the dining room table, which are brand new tables and wood. I am paranoid about heat damage so I also purchased FROSTED CLEAR PLASTIC PLACEMATS to put underneath of these. I guess one could put them on top also. These are also from Walmart. See pics. This way I have double the protection! They look fine placed together. I am not picky. As far as non slip, they are not. They still move around if nudged. For cleaning you can wipe them with a damp cloth, shake crumbs out or put a toothpick in to get anything stuck out. I did not want to cover my nice wood tabletops with a tablecloth, so these look great with the wood. Very happy!
