No worries about modems

I bought this modem/router (SBG6900AC) to replace a Cox modem/router that we rented from Cox. Installation was easy, everything worked in 10 minutes. After that, not everything was very good, except maybe that he's quite attractive in all white. Unfortunately, the two things this device lacks are the top two – Wi-Fi range and a reliable, uninterrupted connection. This product has neither. Our apartment is about 1,100 square feet and is on one level, and our son's room is literally on the other side of the wall from where the router is, so the three-foot space between his room and the unit is mostly just drywall consists. But he couldn't get consistent service in his room, with constant dropouts and a weak signal. God help you if you walk 20 feet to our front door and step outside when the signal drops to almost zero. there is noise or the inability to hear the other side. Even within range, Wi-Fi often disappears. In fact, I would say that dropout is the most stable and reliable thing about this modem/router. In general it looks great. Works horribly. We replaced it with a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 and are very happy. We still have a strong signal when we step outside, walk down the stairs and walk 30 feet to our car. The signal penetrates easily through the walls and doors to our patio and terrace. And so far we haven't had a single dropout. Immediately after installation I called WiFi and everything was crystal clear. I also ran a speed test and the throughput was very close to the speed advertised by our ISP.
