As a wildlife rehabilitator, I work with MANY cottontails and foster mothers that I keep to help them. This stretcher is SUPER because you can catch a rabbit through the front door, but you can pick it up through the top or even put food and water on it if you keep the animal in it for a long time. A hard top is also great for any type of rabbit as it gives them a sense of security that a barred door cannot provide. I bought several of these mediums because I really like them. I highly recommend it. It is ideal for rabbits but will be useful for other species as well.
