I have 2 adult cats, a small boneless 9 lb female and a large 12 lb male. I ordered 2 of these seat belts in size XS. I've managed to get them to work and the cats seem comfortable in them. For my little cat I had to tighten the collar as much as possible and it's still a bit big. Even the chest strap is almost fully tensioned and she can detach herself from the harness if she wants to. It is more suitable for a tomcat, but even for him the collar should be as short as possible. The straps and buckles even seem a bit big, chunky and heavy for a cat harness. I suspect this harness was designed for a small dog and would be more suitable for a small dog than a cat. However, it is well made and I love the 4 buckle design which makes it easy to put on so I give it 4 stars. If it was a little smaller and lighter I would give it a 5. I can't think of a domestic cat that would be too big for an XS size, but I can imagine some very large breeds or obese cats needing a larger size. If you are buying this item for a cat, just pay attention to the size. And if your cat weighs less than 9 pounds, this may not be appropriate.
