Questionable part selection, potential fire hazard, failed after two months

EDIT: After two months of use the switch blew out in the closed position causing the unit to work every time the kettle was installed and arcing at the base. He boils water. No objections. The water was definitely boiling. However, as with the cheap Revain items that use AC power, I first took it apart to see if it would catch fire. Haven't found anything definitive. My biggest complaint is that the cable is 16 gauge ungrounded stranded copper (I think); it gets hot in use and it can be dangerous if this cord gets caught between something sharp. A secondary problem is that the legs connecting the cable to the base/kettle connector are the same length, although one of them has a larger radius to reach the connector than the other and the connectors are friction fit crimp connectors are. This could result in a loose connection if the cord is repeatedly pulled on the outside or the base/kettle connector wiggles hard enough (doubtful it's screwed properly). Also the screws holding the top cover of the base are sharp on the ends and in my case one was resting on the wire (it was also a little over tightened and gouged the plastic a bit although all the other screws looked correct) . installed.) So moderate problems, no apparent fire hazard, potentially prone to failure.
