Review on Extech MN35 Digital Mini MultiMeter by Sean Zamora

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Amazing accuracy and factory calibration.

I needed a pair of inexpensive DMMs with basic functionality that I could carry in my tool bags. Extechs fit the bill perfectly. The first thing I ordered was the MN35, and in fact I checked its factory calibration with a couple of much more expensive meters at the store, an old Fluke 8000A/AZ benchtop meter that I calibrated every few years, and a WaveTek handheld. It was top notch, $600 DMM 15 or 20 years ago when I bought it. Both gauges agree on everything I throw at them. Surprisingly, the little $20 Extech agrees with both when I tested a range of components, voltages from a lab power supply, and currents from some fixed current regulators. For charging different batteries. I wasn't expecting anything better than "close enough," but while Extech lacks the resolution of the best meters, all readings were the same up to the limits of the meter's resolution. For what I needed this is more than enough. and much better than I had hoped. CONS: After wandering around vehicles for a month, the display segment stopped working for me, but that was fixed by simply taking it apart, rubbing the LCD display's contact fingers on the circuit board, and reassembling the thing. Since then everything is fine. I've had better gauges than this, so I doubt that's enough to worry about. Delivery from Revain was fast as usual. you grow up will be bigger than Google and FeeBAY and many more in a few years. Their excellent customer service is a big part of the reason. As they move up, it will be interesting to see if they don't give up outright like the other corporate giants I mentioned have done.
