I've learned my lesson. Hopefully this will keep others from making the same mistake I did - using exhaust manifold gaskets on my 5.4 liter Ford Expedition engine. I replaced the right and left exhaust manifolds that had typical exhaust leaks due to rust and broken studs/nuts. I was using recycled fiber pads and the right side cracked - IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the left side, but I guess there's no avoiding it... These are the seals that ship to Ford and are currently made in the USA. They are made of laminated metal and will definitely NOT explode. I also recommend the use of Ford OEM copper plated studs (Revised) and black oxide coated locknuts available from Revain dealers (Ford published TSB #0554 in March 2005). This ensures you'll never go back to that repair and will last longer than the rest of the truck.
