I like simple things because they last longer than complex ones. This gap design has been around for as long as I can remember. It's as simple as it gets and does the job well. Even random handling for years in a shop or backyard will not affect its effectiveness. If you don't tend to lose things, it will take your whole life, your son or daughter's life, the next generation and so on, until we just stop using internal combustion engines that need spark plugs. Then it becomes a collector's item.
