The alleged reason for buying this device is the alleged "evaporative cooling". . Tried with ice in bowl and just cold water, no difference. (Even a full ice tray melts in about 5 minutes.) Actually, I don't see how this could ever work as an evaporative cooler, because the part that goes into the water is hard plastic and doesn't have the slightest bit of resistance. Suction ability to move water into the airflow. (?!) The fan has three speeds, but it's pretty anemic and the battery dies in about 3 hours at high speed, the only viable speed. I re-read the instructions, doing my best to get at least a little chilling effect out of it - we could actually use it. But no. What you're left with is a $50 portable fan that moves very little air and contains water that's seemingly useless. Definitely don't waste your time with this. Returned.
