I bought this specifically for soldering purposes. It is impossible. It just doesn't heat enough. I was trying to braze a crack in the exhaust pipe of a small engine using 3/32 flux coated bronze solder with a melting point of 870C. This burner is rated for up to 1350°C. Regardless of whether the part to be welded cannot be heated. when soldering, this torch could not easily melt the soldering rod - even if the soldering rod was directly exposed to the flame. The product's marketing specifications are incorrect. I am returning this product.
