Review on 🏌️ Enhance Your Golf Game with Garmin Approach Z80: Laser Range Finder and 2D Course Overlays by Marco Cervantes

Short battery life issue SOLVED!

I have been using a laser range finder for several years. Great for pin distance - if you can see the pin. Not suitable for situations where there is no direct connection from the location to the pen. I bought a Garmin Approach Z80 as it has a laser and GPS. As well as determining distance to the front and back of the green, the GPS provides the distance to all areas of interest on each hole - hazards, streams, lakes, traps, etc. from your location - and displays this graphically on the map hole in the viewfinder . IT IS PRICELESS. I thought I had found the perfect device until it died on hole 6, 7 or 8 and couldn't even last a round of golf. I contacted Revain to send it back but was advised to run the latest software update through Garmin Express. Most software updates simply provide new course information, but this latest update has fixed the power standby. The original software prevented the device from going to sleep when not in use between holes, leaving it on all the time - a real waste of battery. With the new software update on board I completed a 4.5 hour round of 18 holes yesterday and the battery level was still at 67%. According to Garmin, you can play at least 2 rounds of golf without charging the battery. I think it's true now. You can get 3 rounds but why take the risk. The battery is fully charged in a few hours. You just have to remember to take it out of your golf bag and charge it. BATTERY UPDATE: I did 5 rounds with the Z80. At least 60% of the battery remained after each lap. The software update solved the battery problem. I'm updating my rating to 5 stars.
