Doesn't protect against chewing at all

This cage is small and can be chewed just like the cage itself. The lid should be glowing and if we didn't put anything on it our hamster would just bang his head on it to run away. Assembly was easy, but this cage didn't even last two weeks before the hamster chewed it to pieces. She has chew toys, but she preferred the cage and her home to recovery.
