I've wanted this for a long time. I'm a handyman and prefer to do my own repairs. I did my share of paperclips and counted flashes to figure out the error code. As a layman, this is not the tool you need every day, but when you need it. you need him I didn't have a fault code or CEL at the time but I found the live readings for various items, battery level, internal engine temp to be very good which made troubleshooting much easier. I've never used an OBD scanner before but it was literally so easy to plug in and select different screens. As someone else wrote, it feels cheap because it's very light and all plastic, but the screen is easy to read and the letters are clear and seem pretty bright. Not a bad buy for the price.
