I bought this for my husband because he wanted a panini grill. I have looked at fancier, larger and more expensive grills but settled on this one because it had good reviews. Maybe I'll give him an update if he proves he's responsible :) That's good because there aren't a lot of settings to worry about and remembering which settings to use for what. Just turn it on, watch the light, and then you're ready to toss your sandwich. He always uses thick sourdough bread and is happy with the outcome of his sandwiches. I told him to oil the grill not the bread and now his results are much better. The non-stick surface of the grill is pleasant to the touch and easy to clean. Even if some cheese comes out, it is immediately wiped off with a paper towel. Nothing sticks to the surface. It's the perfect size for two good sandwiches (on a large loaf), but still not too big and unwieldy to worry about where to store it, and not so big that it's impractical to keep it. move, clean, etc. Many of the other inexpensive models I reviewed didn't have a floating lid. It has a hinged floating lid so you can put thick sandwiches in and the lid will lie flat and evenly on top. In addition to sandwiches, it is also good for burgers and steaks. It's nice to have something like this when it's too cold to go outside and fire up a big propane grill. We eat NY strip and porterhouse steaks a lot so this little grill is really good to help us get through the winter months and not miss out on meat quality. This fires them perfectly and allows us to craft them in "medium quality" to our liking. Split boneless chicken breasts/tenders also work great. They're very well made, especially for the price, and we're both happy with them. I am pleased that I found such a good model at such a good price and he is pleased that it works so well and is easy to use. It's the perfect combination of price, performance and value. It doesn't lack any essential features and the build quality is perfect.
