Wrong spacing - riding a bike

Does not match the thread spacing of standard 2.5" water bottles. Even one of my cages that has an extra 1/4" of leeway on one of the screw holes won't fit. I don't understand who gives this 4 and 5 stars when it's not doing its only job.
