A simple, elegant and sustainable way to filter your drinking water

Los Angeles tap water is hard and tastes bad. I love having ice cold filtered water in the fridge, but I don't like how much shelf space is taken up by most water purification jugs and dispensers. They are all bulky and designed so that only half of their total volume is filtered water. Also, replacement filters use a lot of plastic. Binchotan activated carbon is just as effective as PUR and Brita products. I just boil it and then dip it in my sleek water dispenser. Being a natural material makes me feel safe using it and most importantly the LA tap water tastes great. I have been using Binchotan activated charcoal for many years. This should not be missing in my kitchen.
